Friendship Learning Center
The Learning Center at Friendship Church is an outreach and educational ministry of the church. We believe that children form the basic patterns for life in the early years from birth to age six. Under the guidance of loving adults, our programs provide educational activities which emphasize growth in all areas-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Each day children attending the Learning Center have the chance to build both fine and gross motor skills through planned and ‘free time’ activities. Using scissors, painting and gluing are favorites in the classroom. Running, jumping, kicking a ball and climbing are loved in the gym and on the playground. Even the younger children enjoy time out of the classroom to explore new avenues by way of a walk in the Bye Bye Buggy or on the toddler sized play area.
Our classes are designed with the child in mind. Teacher to student ratios are kept to a minimum. We recognize that children pass through various stages of development and that each child’s development is uniquely his or her own.
We strive to help the children develop positive feelings about their abilities through our own actions and words. As play is the language of children, we work to provide opportunities for children to learn through their play with a balance of self-discovery and teacher-directed activities.
We want your child’s time spent at the Learning Center to be happy and relaxed. Each class follows a flexible daily schedule so that the child will derive a sense of security. The learning environment at Friendship is rich, varied, warm, stimulating and safe for young children’s health and development.
Each child is a gift from God and is recognized as such. Through Bible stories, songs and our love for them we work to show each child the love of Christ.
Programs are available for children six weeks of age to four with half-day and full-day options. Summer programs are offered for school age children. For more information call a director at 256.232.6687.
